Representative Text

1 Thou gracious Lord, Creator everlasting,
Whose name is Love,
Behold us now, and bless thy waiting children
From heaven above.

Refrain:
Eternal Spirit, from on high descending,—
From that bright throne where purest songs are blending,—
Breathe on our souls, in supplication bending,
O Holy Dove.

2 We come to thee and plead the precious promise
One made by thee,
That in thy name where two or three are gathered
There thou would’st be. [Refrain]

3 We come to ask for zeal and Christian patience
Our cross to bear,
For strength to toil and lively faith, inspiring
Our every prayer. [Refrain]

4 More grace we need, more perfect consecration,
And deeper love;
Oh, rain upon us, Lord, thy richest blessing,
From heaven above. [Refrain]
