'Tis a world of temptation

Representative Text

1 'Tis a world of temptation, of trial and care;
The helpless and weary we meet on the way;
There is need of your service, of labor and prayer,
Then lighten the burden of someone today.

Chorus:
Lighten the burden of someone today,
Give of your blessing to gladden the way;
Ask Jesus to help you, and work as you pray,
To lighten the burden of someone today.

2 Weary not in well-doing; in grace ever grow;
Have faith, for the fruit of your labors repay!
Do not hope at the seed-time the harvest to know,
But lighten the burden of someone today. [Chorus]

3 Tho' but one humble talent is given to you,
Your strength is in Him: He is with you for aye;
He will bless ev'ry deed that for others you do,
Then lighten the burden of someone today. [Chorus]
