The Good Old Christian Way

Representative Text

1 ’Tis in the Holy Bible,
The precious word of God,
I find the way to Heaven
There given by my Lord.
He says that He will lead me
By night as well as day,
And guide me by His Spirit
In the good old Christian way.

Refrain:
God’s way! Christ’s way!
That is the way for me.
It leads from earth to Heaven,
Where Jesus I shall see.

2 My father and my mother
Both journeyed on this road;
They taught me in my childhood,
It led to Heav’n and God;
Its path is peace and blessing—
All travelers on it say
No other way’s so happy
As the good old Christian way. [Refrain]

3 And when my journey’s ended,
And I am home above,
Enjoying Heaven’s blessings,
Filled with my Savior’s love,
I’ll sing loud hallelujahs,
To Jesus ever pray
A prayer of praise, for giving
Me the good old Christian way. [Refrain]
