Træder nu til Herrens Bord

Representative Text

1 Træder nu til Herrens Bord
Op, I Nadvergjæster,
Tror vor Herre paa hands Ord,
Som hans Blod stadfæster;
Stille nu,
Kom ihu,
Hvad af Gud er givet
Eder her til Livet!

2 Kom med sand Bodfærdighed
Over eders Synder,
Ydmyge Gud giver Fred,
Angers Graad han ynder.
Slaa dig tyst
For dit Bryst,
Bøi dig for din Dommer,
Førend Hevnen kommer!

3 Ganger frem med Fromheds Skrud
Og i Troens Klæde,
Slige Gjæster tækkes Gud,
Deri har han Glæde,
Tager Mad,
Drikker glad
Hans Blods-Bæger bedste,
Alle herrens Gjæste!

4 Naar I værdeligen saa
Æde nu og drikke,
Eders Sjæle leve maa,
Og fortabes ikke.
Takker Gud,
Holder ud,
Gak saa hen, I Kjære
Fred med eder være!

5 Jesus, Herre, Frelser god,
Mød her dine Fromme,
Lad dit Legeme og Blod
Hjertet vel bekomme!
O forlad,
Gjør os glad,
Sign os allesammen,
Og bønhør os, Amen.

In some hymnals, the editors noted that a hymn's author is unknown to them, and so this artificial "person" entry is used to reflect that fact. Obviously, the hymns attributed to "Author Unknown" "Unknown" or "Anonymous" could have been written by many people over a span of many centuries. Go to person page >
