We are instructed by the Lord

1 We are instructed by the Lord,
When we are taught his holy word:
The way of life is then reveal'd,
To those who to his precepts yield.

2 We pray to thee, O Father! kind,
Fill us with the dear Saviour's mind.
O make us willing to obey,
And follow Jesus in his way.

3 O may we serve him with delight,
Be meek and humble in his sight;
So shall we have our souls possess'd,
With all that makes us truly bless'd.
