One Common Faith

Representative Text

1 We are one in Christ, his name we bear,
From the bonds of sin set free,
Members all of his great church above,
Just one common faith have we.

Refrain:
All for Christ! banded firmly together,
Love our watchword e’er shall be;
All for Christ! true and loyal forever,
Just one command faith have we.

2 Tho’ we worship him in countless ways,
May our hearts united be;
To the same dear Lord our pray’rs ascend,
Just one command faith have we. [Refrain]

3 When we reach the home in glory land,
Join the song of victory;
We will share the love of God our King,
Just one command faith have we. [Refrain]

Lizzie De Armond was a prolific writer of children's hymns, recitations and exercises. When she was twelve years old her first poem was published in the Germantown, Pa. Telegraph, however, it was not until she was a widow with eight children to support that she started writing in earnest. She wrote articles, librettos, nature stories and other works, as well as hymns.
