Representative Text

1 We meet once more with hearts aflame,
To praise the blessed Saviour’s name,
And while we praise,
This pray’r we’ll raise,
God bless our Sunday School.

Refrain:
God bless our school, our Sunday school,
‘Tis here we learn the golden rule,
Fill us with love
And from above,
God bless our Sunday School.

2 ‘Tis here we come to learn of Thee,
Unclose our eyes that we may see,
Unto each heart
Thy grace impart,
God bless our Sunday School. [Refrain]

3 Be in the lesson of today,
And help each teacher, Lord, we pray,
And while they teach,
Still we beseech,
Lord bless our Sunday School. [Refrain]

4 Now help the children while they sing
The praises of their Lord and King,
May they to Thee
United be,
Lord bless our Sunday School. [Refrain]

5 Be with each heart, be with each home,
Be with us in the years to come,
While still to Thee,
Our pray’r will be,
God bless our Sunday School. [Refrain]

Johnson Oatman, Jr., son of Johnson and Rachel Ann Oatman, was born near Medford, N. J., April 21, 1856. Outside of the usual time spent in the public schools, Mr. Oatman received his education at Herbert's Academy, Princetown, N. J., and the New Jersey Collegiate Institute, Bordentown, N. J. At the age of nineteen he joined the M.E. Church, and a few years later he was granted a license to preach the Gospel, and still later he was regularly ordained by Bishop Merrill. However, Mr. Oatman only serves as a local preacher. For many years he was engaged with his father in the mercantile business at Lumberton… Go to person page >
