Representative Text

1 We thank Thee, Lord, with one accord
For granting us Thy precious Word
That shines so clearly in our night
And doth our weary heart delight.

2 In death's dark valley bound we lay
And for escape could find no way.
O dearest Jesus, thanks to Thee
Who now hast made us prisoners free!

3 We pray Thy light may ever shine
Till breaks that glorious day of Thine.
Grant us to wander evermore
The narrow path to heaven's door.

4 Thou very man and God's own Son,
Thou King of kings on Glory's throne,
No mortal hath deserved such grace,
Nor love Thou shower'st on our race.

5 Thy Holy Spirit be our guide
That in Thy service we abide;
Thou knowest, sinner-Friend so true,
How little our weak strength can do.

6 Accept the off'rings of our praise,
O dearest Lord, we humbly raise,
Wherein we Gentiles would adore
Thy wondrous Name forevermore.
