1 Welcome, summer, for thou bringest
Flow’rs and sunshine, light and joy;
Nature’s sweetest hymns thou singest,
Happy birds their songs employ;
Merry, merry chimes thou ringest,
Nature’s notes of joy;
Merry, merry chimes thou ringest,
Nature’s notes of joy.
Happy children come with gladness,
Joyous songs they raise—
Free from thoughts of care and sadness,
Sing they notes of praise.

2 Joyful meeting, gaily greeting,
On this happy Children’s Day;
While the rosy hours are fleeting,
Children’s hearts are bright and gay.
Happy in this joyful meeting
On the Children’s Day;
Happy in this joyful meeting
On the Children’s Day.
Day of music and of flowers,
Blossom of the year!
Children’s praises fill the hours
While we’re gather’d here.

3 Tender Father, hear their singing,
Hear their voices soft and low;
Give the little ones Thy blessing
Teach their hearts Thy ways to know.
Wisdom’s gentle sway confessing,
In her paths to go;
Wisdom’s gentle sway confessing,
In her paths to go.
Bless to us the happy hours,
While we’re gather’d here!
On this day of joy and flowers!
Blossom of the year!
