Representative Text

1 When burdens press, and cares distress,
I lift my eyes to heaven;
And humbly plead, to meet my need,
Some promise God has given.

Refrain:
I always find a promise
To cheer me on the way,
And when I seek to claim it,
He never answers nay.

2 Temptations strong may sweep along,
Like ocean billows swelling;
His word can stay their mighty sway,
While safe in him I’m dwelling. [Refrain]

3 What should I fear when he is near,
And in his love enfolds me;
His mighty arm doth keep from harm,
And all the way upholds me. [Refrain]

4 My sinful soul he hath made whole,
And freely all forgiven;
The crimson flow made white as snow,
And brought me hope of heaven. [Refrain]
