Representative Text

1 When Gabriel sends his trumpet sound
O’er all the earth and sea,
And trembling sinners stand around,
Lord, may I hide in Thee.
When lightnings flash and thunders roll,
And graves are open wide,
Oh, Lord, receive my waiting soul,
And in Thee let me hide.

Refrain:
Oh, let me hide in Thee,
Oh, let me hide in Thee;
Still keep me near Thy loving side,
Oh, let me hide in Thee.

2 I would not cry for rocks to fall,
Nor earth to crumble in,
To hide my guilty self from all,
Since Thou canst cover sin.
When time and all its scenes are o’er,
And God speaks from the sky,
And Christians hear His voice and go,
O Christ, to Thee I fly. [Refrain]

3 When God is judging all the world,
And from His throne we see
His precious love to us unfurled,
Oh, let me hide in Thee.
And when that glorious day shall come,
Then near Thy bleeding side,
Give this poor waiting soul a home,
And let me safely hide. [Refrain]
