Representative Text

1 When I am passing thro’ waters chill,
When painful trials I see,
I know my Savior upholds me still,
Because he promises me.

Refrain:
Because he promises me,
Because he promises me;
Whatever o’ertake me,
He’ll never forsake me,
Because he promises me.

2 In times of sorrow and sore distress,
He hears and answers my plea;
My loving Savior is glad to bless,
Because he promises me. [Refrain]

3 Whatever troubles my life befall,
My “present help” he will be;
His love will carry me safe thro’ all,
Because he promises me. [Refrain]

4 I give to Jesus my ev’ry care,
From anxious thought I am free;
Assured that he will my burdens bear,
Because he promises me. [Refrain]
