Breton, Nicholas, second son of William Breton, of Red Cross Street, Cripplegate, London, probably born about 1542-3. His father's will, proved in 1559, shows that at his death, his eldest son was still a boy, and that in the event of his death, Nicholas was not to inherit until he was 24. It appears that he resided for some time at Oriel College, Oxford. From 1577 to 1626 he issued pamphlet after pamphlet in prose and verse. In 1876 these were collected as far as possible by the Rev. A. B. Grosart, and printed in two vols. in his Chertsey Worthies' Library. He died probably in 1626, being then about 83 years of age.
