Representative Text

1 When the Bridegroom cometh
For His own by and by,
Will your soul be ready for that home on high,
Will your lamp be burning
And your robes be white,
Will you enter with Him thro’ the gates of light?

Refrain:
Are you ready, for the great judgment day?
Are you ready, with your sins washed away?
Should He come in the morning,
Or at midnight without warning,
Are you ready for the great judgment day?

2 When the Bridegroom cometh
And His voice you shall hear,
Will your heart be joyful or be filled with fear?
Will you gladly meet Him
In the clouds so fair?
Or will sin and sorrow drive thee to despair? [Refrain]

3 When the Bridegroom cometh
Then we all must appear,
’Round His throne eternal and our sentence hear;
Will you hear His welcome
To eternal light,
Or, "Depart, ye cursed, into endless night"? [Refrain]
