Representative Text

1 When weary with the ills of life,
Its burdens and its acres,
There is a balm, a sacred joy,
‘Tis found alone in prayer.

Refrain:
Alone in prayer,
Alone in prayer;
There is a balm, a sacred joy,
‘Tis found alone in prayer.

2 When tempted by the power of sin,
That would the soul ensnare,
There is a sure, a safe retreat,
‘Tis found alone in prayer. [Refrain]

3 There’s grace to help in time of need,
A full supply is there,
Go find it at the Master’s feet,
In humble, heart-felt prayer. [Refrain]

4 When doubts arise and faith is weak,
And crosses hard to bear,
Then seek the Father at His throne,
And find relief in prayer. [Refrain]
