Representative Text

1 While walking with my Savior I am sometimes sore oppressed,
Until at times I scarce can longer stand;
And then there comes to me the thought which gives me peace and rest,
I will not fear while Jesus holds my hand.

Refrain:
I will not fear while Jesus holds my hand;
Safely he’ll lead me to the glory land;
Tho’ trials fierce assail me,
His grace can never fail me,
I will not fear while Jesus holds my hand.

2 A stranger and a pilgrim here, I seek a place to come,
I hasten to that bright celestial land;
And tho’ the clouds may intervene and hide from me the sun,
I will not fear while Jesus holds my hand. [Refrain]

3 What care I for the mountain’s rough, what care I for the sea,
He is the same on ocean or on land;
The eye that sees the sparrow fall is looking down on me,
I will not fear while Jesus holds my hand. [Refrain]
