Author: Sir John Beaumont

Beaumont, Sir John, elder brother of Francis Beaumont, the dramatic writer, born in 1582, and educated at Oxford. In 1626 he was created a baronet by King Charles I., died in 1628. His writings include, The Crown of Thorns, a poem in 8 books (not now known to exist); Bosworth Field and other Poems, 1629; and Poems on religious and political subjects. He is known to modern hymnals through one or two pieces only.
