Representative Text

1 You can set my name down for my blessed Lord and King,
His redeeming love shines in my heart;
Earthly pleasures no more shall allure me back again,
From my Saviour I will ne’er depart.

Refrain:
You can set my name down, set my name down
As a sinner saved by grace divine,
You can set my name down, set my name down,
Let me call this blessed Saviour mine.

2 You can set my name down, tho’ unworthy of His love,
He has turned my dark night into day;
With His wonderful peace, satisfied my longing heart,
Rolled the burden of my guilt away. [Refrain]

3 You can set my name down, all is changed within my soul,
Thor’ my tears His dear face I can see;
He has driven away ev’ry gloomy doubt and fear,
And in Him my constant joy shall be. [Refrain]

Author: Lizzie DeArmond

Lizzie De Armond was a prolific writer of children's hymns, recitations and exercises. When she was twelve years old her first poem was published in the Germantown, Pa. Telegraph, however, it was not until she was a widow with eight children to support that she started writing in earnest. She wrote articles, librettos, nature stories and other works, as well as hymns.
