Representative Text

1 You may keep on working till your life’s last hour;
But you’ll never get to heaven that way.
You may keep on praying till you can’t pray more,
But you’ll never get to heaven that way.
You may keep on hoping;
You may keep on weeping;
While your soul lies still in darkness sleeping;
But you’ll never, never, never, never,
Never get to heav’n that way.

2 You must come to Jesus and His name confess;
You will surely get to heaven that way.
You must trust His blood and perfect righteousness,
You will surely get to heaven that way.
You must leave off trying;
And believe Him only;
He will freely pardon and cleanse you wholly;
You will surely, surely, surely, surely,
Surely get to heav’n that way.
