Author of "As Jacob with Travel" in Baptist Hymnal (1975 ed) In some hymnals, the editors noted that a hymn's author is unknown to them, and so this artificial "person" entry is used to reflect that fact. Obviously, the hymns attributed to "Author Unknown" "Unknown" or "Anonymous" could have been written by many people over a span of many centuries.

1908 - 1979 Arranger of "JACOB'S LADDER" in The Worshiping Church Gerald Hocken Knight CBE (1908–1979) was an cathedral organist, who served at Canterbury Cathedral. Gerald Hocken Knight was born on 27 July 1908 in Par, Cornwall, and was educated at Truro Cathedral School and Peterhouse, Cambridge. He was an articled organ pupil of Hubert Stanley Middleton at Truro Cathedral. He was appointed a Fellow of the Royal School of Church Music in 1964. Harry Loper

1856 - 1930 Author of "Jacob's vision" in Songs of Power. Rev. Harry Loper was born William Harry Loper on March 20, 1856, the 10th of 11 children born to William S. Loper and Sarah Ann Wilden. He married Laura Clark on November 29, 1878 and had one daughter, Carrie. He and his small family were what was known as 'singing evangelists' and several times led worship for famed evangelist Billy Sunday. In news clippings, he is sometimes referred to as 'Rev. Harry Loper' or 'Prof. Harry Loper' although to date, no record has been found of him attending any kind of college or seminary. He died on January 5, 1930 and was buried in Harleigh Cemetery in Camden, New Jersey. Wayne Loper (great-great-great nephew)
