Far as creation's bounds extend

Author: James Merrick, 1720-1769 Hymnal: Methodist Hymn and Tune Book #177 (1917) Lyrics: 1 Far as creation's bounds extend, Thy mercies, heavenly Lord, descend; One chorus of perpetual praise To Thee Thy various works shall raise; Thy saints to Thee in hymns impart The transports of a grateful heart. 2 They chant the splendours of Thy name, Delighted with the wondrous theme; And bid the world's wide realms admire The glories of the Almighty Sire, Whose throne all nature's wreck survives, Whose power through endless ages lives. 3 From Thee, great God, while every eye Expectant waits the wished supply, Their bread proportioned to the day, Thy opening hands to each convey; In every sorrow of the heart Eternal mercy bears a part. 4 Who ask Thine aid with heart sincere Shall find Thy succours ever near; To Thee their prayer in each distress Thy suffering servants, Lord, address; And prove Thee, verging on the grave, Nor slow to hear, nor weak to save. The Spacious Firmament on High

Author: Joseph Addison Hymnal: Trinity Hymnal (Rev. ed.) #117 (1990) Meter: 8.8.8.8 D Lyrics: 1 The spacious firmament on high, with all the blue ethereal sky, and spangled heav'ns, a shining frame, their great Original proclaim. Th'unwearied sun, from day to day does his Creator's power display, and publishes to ev'ry land the work of an almighty hand. 2 Soon as the evening shades prevail, the moon takes up the wondrous tale, and nightly to the list'ning earth repeats the story of her birth; whilst all the stars that round her burn, and all the planets in their turn, confirm the tidings as they roll, and spread the truth from pole to pole. 3 What though in solemn silence all move round this dark terrestrial ball? What though no real voice nor sound amidst their radiant orbs be found? In reason's ear they all rejoice, and utter forth a glorious voice; forever singing, as they shine, "The hand that made us is divine." Creator Spirit, by whose aid

Author: J. Dryden, 1631-1701 Hymnal: Methodist Hymn and Tune Book #146 (1917) Lyrics: 1 Creator Spirit, by whose aid The world's foundations first were laid, Come visit every waiting mind, Come pour Thy joys on human kind; From sin and sorrow set us free, And make Thy temples worthy Thee. 2 O Source of uncreated heat, The Father's promised Paraclete! Thrice holy Fount, immortal Fire, Our hearts with heavenly love inspire: Come, and Thy sacred unction bring, To sanctify us while we sing. 3 Plenteous of grace, descend from high, Rich in Thy sevenfold energy! Thou strength of His almighty hand Whose power does heaven and earth command, Refine and purge our earthly parts, And stamp Thine image on our hearts. 4 Create all new, our wills control, Subdue the rebel in our soul; Chase from our minds the subtle foe, And peace, the fruit of faith, bestow; And, lest again we go astray, Protect and guide us in the way. 5 Immortal honours, endless fame, Attend the Almighty Father's name; The Saviour Son be glorified, Who for lost man's redemption died; And equal adoration be, Eternal Comforter, to Thee! God’s Glory Fills the Heavens

Author: Carl P. Daw Jr. Hymnal: Voices Together #197 (2020) Meter: 8.8.8.8 First Line: God’s glory fills the heav’ns with hymns Lyrics: 1 God’s glory fills the heav’ns with hymns; the domed sky bears the Maker’s mark; new praises sound from day to day and echo through the knowing dark. Without a word their songs roll on; into all lands their voices run. And with a champion’s strength and grace from farthest heaven comes forth the sun. 2 God’s perfect law revives the soul; its precepts make the simple wise; its just commands rejoice the heart; its truth gives light unto the eyes. Forever shall this law endure: unblemished, righteous, true, complete. No gold was ever found so fine, no honey in the comb more sweet. 3 God’s servant may I ever be: this world my joy, that Word my guide. O cleanse me, Lord, from secret sin: deliver me from selfish pride. Accept my thoughts and words and deeds: let them find favor in your sight. For you alone can make me whole, O Lord, my refuge and my might. Topics: Law; Creation God as Creator; God Glory of; Law; Psalms; Word of God Scripture: Psalm 19 Tune Title: CREATION
