Tom Colvin
1925 - 2000 Author of "That Boy-Child of Mary" in Psalter Hymnal (Gray) Tom Colvin (b. 1925; d. 2000) was trained as an engineer and worked in that profession in Burma and Singapore from 1945 to 1948. After studying theology at Trinity College, Glasgow University, he was ordained in the Church of Scotland in 1954. He served as missionary in Nyasaland (now Malawi) from 1954 to 1958, in Ghana from 1958 to 1964, and again in Nyasaland from 1964 to 1974. His work there included preaching, education, and community development. After completing his missionary work, Colvin became a minister in the United Reformed Church of England and served an inner-city church in London. He returned to Africa in 1984 as a development consultant to the Zimbabwe Christian Council. Colvin's writings include Christ's Work in Free Africa (1964) and three collections of hymns, many written in collaboration with African Christians–Free to Serve (1966), Leap My Soul (1976), and Fill Us with Your Love (1983).

Norma De Waal Malefyt
Person Name: Norma de Waal Malefyt Arranger of "BLANTYRE" in Songs for Life Norma de Waal Malefyt is Resource Development Specialist in Congregational Song for the Worship Institute. Her responsibilities include developing training resources and curriculum for the Worship Institute web site, publication series, and training events. She serves as a presenter at events sponsored by the Worship Institute, including academic courses, the annual Calvin Symposium on Worship, and other training events.
Norma enjoys participating in worship especially in the areas of worship planning and music leadership and in developing those gifts in others. She graduated from Calvin College with degrees in music education and organ performance. She returns to the college setting after serving in parish music ministry.

Norma De Waal Malefyt
Nylea L. Butler-Moore
Composer (descant) of "BLANTYRE" in The United Methodist Hymnal Music Supplement II Nylea L. Butler-Moore, the nationally recognized Methodist composer and writer. She is the music director at Trinity United Methodist Church in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and the youth editor of the Church Music Workshop magazine, published by Abingdon Press in Nashville, Tennessee. She also edits Jubilate, a newsletter for Methodist musicians.
She received her bachelor of music from the University of Tennessee in 1982 and a master of church music with a choral conducting emphasis from the Scarrit-Graduate School in 1985. Her interest in music education took her to the Southeastern Massachusetts University for two graduate courses in the Kodaly music education method. With such a solid music preparation, it is no wonder to see her as a leader in the Methodist music circles and, happily for the Roman Catholic scene, for the Catholic churches in the United States.
The charm of her music promises to enhance Catholic liturgy even more now as her compositions become more available to the parish musician through GIA's contining ecumenical spectrum.
