XLIII. Almighty love inspire

1 Almighty love inspire
My heart with sacred fire,
And animate desire,
My soul to renew.
I love my blessed Jesus,
Oh whom bright angels gazes
And symphony increases
Above th' etherial blue.

2 My tender hearted Jesus,
Thy love my soul amazes,
Thou came for to save us,
When lost and undone,
No Seraph could redeem us,
No Angel could retrieve us,
No Arm could relieve us,
But Jesus alone.

3 In Him I have believed,
And He's my soul retrieved
From sin He has redeemed
My soul which was dead.
And now I love my Saviour,
For I am in his favor,
And hope with Him for ever,
The golden streets to tread.

4 Yet here awhile I stay,
In hope of that glad day,
When I am call'd away,
To the mansions above.
There to enjoy the pleasure
Of inconsuming treasure,
And shout in highest measure
Hallelujahs of Love.
