1 Ich walle in der Fremde,
Von Menschen ungekannt,
Doch leiten Deine Hände
Mich treu zum Vaterland.
Bei jedem sauren Schritte
Gewahrt mein Glaube Dich,
Ich find' hier Deine Tritte,
Die Du einst tatst für mich.

2 Geh' ich auf harten Wegen,
Auf mühevollem Pfad,
Ich eile Dir entgegen,
Mich leitet Deine Gnad'.
Will mich der Lauf ermüden,
Und find' ich nirgend Ruh',
Ist doch mein Herz in Frieden,
Denn meine Ruh' bist Du.

3 Und wenn ich schwach mich finde,
Gering vor Satans List,
Ich dennoch überwinde,
Weil Du zur Seit' mir bist.
Bist Speis' und Trank auf Erden,
Wo Brot und Quelle fehlt.
