2. A Prayer for Pentecost

1 Jesus, we plead in one accord
That promise written in Thy Word;
Help us, that we in truth believe
Thy Pentecost we shall receive.

Refrain:
Come, come,
Come as Thou wilt, in Thine own chosen way;
Great is our need for Thy Presence today,
O come in Pentecostal pow’r, we pray.

2 Cleanse us from ev’ry base desire,
Then visit us with heav’nly fire;
Send us Thy Spirit as he came
In rushing wind and tongues of flame. [Refrain]

3 O Holy Spirit! Thou art near;
Grant us Thy gracious Presence here;
Reveal Thyself, that all may see
God’s gift of fire comes but by Thee. [Refrain]

4 We yield ourselves to Thy control;
O let Thy pow’r now flood our soul
Full, overflowing, thus to be
As flaming tongues of fire, for Thee. [Refrain]
