208. Wake, Awake, for Night Is Flying

1 Wake, awake, for night is flying;
The watchmen on the heights are crying,
"Awake ye people all, at last."
Midnight hears the startling voices,
And at the thrilling cry rejoices:
Come forth; the night will soon be past.
Rise up with willing feet,
Go forth, your Lord to meet:
Alleluia! Bear thru the night your well-trimmed light,
And eager wait His presence bright.

2 Now we hear the heralds singing,
Our hearts with deep delight are springing.
We wake, arising from our gloom.
Forth our Savior comes, all glorious,
In grace arrayed, by truth victorious.
Our Star is ris'n, our Light is come
All hail, Thou radiant Lord,
Our Crown and our Reward.
Alleluia! We haste along in pomp and song,
And gladsome join the festal throng.

Amen.
