299. The Word of God a Promise Told

1 The word of God a promise told:
a king shall come, let all behold.
The world awaits his presence new,
a Child, a Son, a Savior true.

2 Welcome to earth, O Child Divine;
a gift so rare, a jewel find.
Our savior comes, is present here;
accept his light with love most dear.

3 We sing to you, O Child Divine;
we lift our songs, our candles shine.
Now be your light in us more clear,
reflecting love both far and near.

4 O Holy Spirit, stir us now,
inspire our hearts to make this vow:
we will go forth into the night
and share with all your gift of light.
