13. Hark! The Sabbath Bells

1 Hark! the Sabbath bells,
How their music swells,
Filling earth with peace and holy joy.
Come, ye lov'd ones, all,
Heed the glad, glad call,
And in praise the hours employ.

2 Blessed Sabbath day!
Let us haste to pay
Willing vows to Him whose name is love;
Hallowed, hallowed name--
Precious, precious claim--
Lift your grateful hearts above.

3 Dearer Sabbath home.
Where the happy come
With their prayers and songs so pure and sweet;
Where the weary rest,
Of Thy peace possest,
And with love each other greet.

4 Lovely Sabbath scene,
Where a light serene
Ever shines from brighter worlds afar;
And the silent air,
Softly stirred by prayer,
Warms with life from Faith's fair star.

5 Welcome, Sabbath peace!
Welcome, brief release
From the strife of worldly thought and care;
O, what calm repose
For our griefs and woes,
In this home of praise and prayer.

6 Sweet the Sabbath bells,
As their music swells,
Waking thoughts of Him whose hand divine
Lights this hallowed day
With His love's clear ray--
Love of God! O, ever shine!
