7. Sweet Day of Sacred Rest

1 Sweet day of sacred rest,
Ever welcome thy returning,
Dear Sabbath, lov'd and blest,
Again we bring to thee
Our off'rings trustingly;
Each grateful heart is burning
With fervent love and praise,
Its altar pure and free.

2 O Saviour, Friend divine!
In Thy gracious care confiding,
We come, O call us thine;
In Thee alone we live,
Do thou our sins forgive,
Weak souls, in Thee abiding,
Will holier, stronger grow,
Ourselves to Thee we give.

3 Be with this happy band,
In Thy holy name united;
O guide us with thy hand!
We follow, without fear,
Thou, Jesus, ever near;
Our path by love so lighted,
All, all is peace and joy,
For Thou art present here!
