29. The Water of Life

1 O the joy—tell it out,
My soul's victory;
I must raise the glad shout,
The Lord hath blessed me,
He whispered, I love thee,
Why keep up the strife?
I yielded, he gave me
The water of life.

Chorus:
O the water of life
With salvation is rife,
And the Savior gives freely
This water of life.

2 In the service of sin
I lost my good name;
War without and within,
No guerdon but shame;
Then at last, when undone,
I ceased the vain strife
T' my soul, then from God's Son
Came water of life. [Chorus]

3 This fountain of cleansing
Is open to all
Who, seeking the blessing,
On Jesus Christ call.
Now go to him, friendless,
There's death in the strife,
But bliss that is endless
Thro' water of life. [Chorus]
