1 O sin of mine, that bowed his heard
In bitter grief and woe;
O heart of mine that would not yield
Tho’ he hath loved it so;

O cross, O crown, O purple robe,
O love-kissed hill of Calvary!
What pain, what grief, what hope was there,
When Jesus prayed and died for me!

2 O door to self that opens not,
But keeps a King without;
With hinges rusted by the rain
Of unbelief and doubt. [Refrain]

3 O light of love from those sad eyes,
That searches for the key;
Now, Lord, I yield and bid thee come
And bring thy peace to me. [Refrain]

4 The cross and crown and purple robe
A newer glory wear;
And lo, the lovelight in those eyes
Reflects my image there. [Refrain]
