37. Jesus, Thy Name I Bear

1 Jesus, Thy name I bear,
Make me Thy life to share,
Be Thou my Lord;
Write me as one of Thine,
Redeemed by grace divine;
My heart to Thee entwine,
With loving cord.

2 Thy spirit, Lord, bestow,
That I like Thee may grow,
From day to day.
Let good the ill displace,
Transform me by Thy grace,
With glimpses of Thy face;
For this I pray.

3 Let me be brave and strong,
Patient to suffer wrong,
Hardship endure;
Ready at Thy command
To enter any land,
Always for Thee to stand,
Loyal and sure.

4 And when the day is done,
Life's battles fought and won,
All labors past,
O then may I be found
Where victors' songs abound
And faithful ones are crowned,
With Thee at last.
