Jam dormas ĉiu enloĝant'
De l' urbo Bet-Leĥem',
Herodo ankaŭ, la reĝant',
Kun li Jerusalem'.
Sed viglas sur kamparo
Paŝtistoj ĝis maten',
En stal' la sankta paro,
Eĉ bovo kaj azen'.

Jen brilas stelo el malhel',
El monda malesper'.
Anĝeloj kantas de l' ĉiel'
Pri paco sur la ter'.
Naskiĝis en la stalo
La Krist-infan' por ni.
Kaj tra la sfera halo
Aŭdeblas: Glor' al Di'.

Sen iom ajn de l' Dia glor'
Vi kuŝas en kaban'.
Maldormas ame Via kor'
Por mi, ho Krist-infan'.
Vi iĝis povra sklavo
Por pliriĉigi min.
