من قد أتاني من عُلاه
أتى إليَّ طالبا
قلبي الذي في الشرِّ تاه
ذاق الآلامْ إلى التمامْ
من أجلنا نحن الخطاة
منسحقا من أجليَ
وهو الإله معطي الحياة

2) قلت لنفسي إنني
لا أستحقُّ ذا الفداء
بل إنني مستأهلٌ
كلَّ عقابٍ وقضاء
لكنه أحبَّنِي
فبذل عنِّي الدماء
مرمما قلبي الكسير
ومانحا ليَ العزاء

3) لم أحتمل أن أقفَ
إزاءَ هذا صامتا
فورًا هَرَعتُ نحوه
وكان صوتي خافتا
