10. Oh my God, my heart desireth greatly

1 Oh, my God, my heart desireth greatly
To inherit Thy sweet rest.
In Thy covenant wilt Thou receive me,
Number me among the blest.
As Thy twelve disciples in their trial,
So I pledge myself in self denial
To endure reproach, dismay,
And Thy good Word to obey.

2 My desire is to proclaim Thy gospel.
To all fellow creatures here
And admonish unrepentant sinners
To love God with rev’rent fear.
Being dead to sin through my conversion
And in undergoing this immersion,
I enjoy the Saviour’s grace,
And toward heaven direct my face.

3 A new being by regeneration,
I do pledge myself to bear
With my Master cross and tribulation,
Likewise, with His body share.
But, my Lord, to suffer and to labor
Give me strength, and grace, and godly favor
That I follow Thee alone,
Till I stand before Thy throne.
