152. Bow Thine ear, gentle Jesus, bow thine ear

1 Bow Thine ear, Gentle Jesus; bow Thine ear Graciously to hear my lisping, May, O may to Thee be pleasing What Thy child would ask and pray; Hear, Oh, hear my pray’r today. 2 Bless me now, Loving Jesus; bless me now! Do anoint me with Thy pardon; On life’s pathway be my guardian; More and more, Oh, let me be Joy and honor, Lord, to Thee. 3 Love Thou me, Heart so loving; love Thou me! Grant that with sweet inclination I love Thee without cessation And childlike and gentle be; Thereto give Thou strength to me. 4 Hold Thou me, Mighty Jesus; hold Thou me; Thou canst see my imperfections, All my weakness and defections With Thy arm, both strong and mild; Hold Thou me, Thy feeble child. 5 Comfort me, My Consoler; comfort me! When at Thy feet I am bowing, Silently my tears are flowing, And my troubled heart in me Thirsting longs for grace from Thee. 6 Heal Thou me In my illness; heal Thou me! When in times of sore affliction Send Thy love and pure affection To my poor and wounded heart; Heal Thou ev’ry painful smart. 7 Carry me, Faithful Shepherd; carry me, As Thy lamb in Thy compassion, In Thy Arms with Shepherd fashion. In faith I on Thee rely; Bear me to Thy home on high.
