1 Who is He that cares and watches o’er our life and soul’s estate?
Who is He that thus has drawn us? Christ alone, His love is great.
2 Ere Thy light shone in with brightness, did’st Thou see us in our woe.
Thou did’st die to give salvation to the lost ones here below.
3 Mortals love their friends sincerely; human love is thus confined.
In His death, He loved us dearly, friends and enemies combined.
4 We can feel Thy grace and comfort, light and strength, the Spirit’s seal;
All the blight of sin and sorrow, none but Thee our wounds can heal.
5 Heav’nly blessings for the pilgrim here on earth are kept in store.
After sorrows, we Thy children shall rejoice forevermore.
6 Saviour! Since Thy blood is healing, there is rest for heart and mind.
Let us now, Thy peace enjoying, grace, sufficient, in Thee find.
7 Teach us all Thy true obedience; teach us, Lord, to do Thy will.
Lead us in Thy holy presence; through this world do guide us still.
8 Though Thou lead us thru the darkness, Thou art evermore our light.
When death comes in awful stillness, we behold Thy face so bright.
9 Thus we love Thee, and adore Thee, Thou art worthy of our love.
When in death and pain and sorrows, let us trust in Thee above.
10 Though the world our souls is calling from the Lord, who loves us best.
May our love to Him be constant till we meet there with the blest.
