The library has about 500 tunebooks and hymnals, some words-only, dating from 1745 to the present. Most are dated pre-1830. The Rare Book and Manuscript Library here has about 600 examples that date back to the 16th century. The library also holds all source microfilms and facsimiles of hymn tunes and texts used in the creation of Nicholas Temperley’s Hymn Tune Index. Related research files are housed at the University Archives.
