William Alexander Barrett

Death Year: 1891

William Alexander Barrett was born in Hackney. At the age of 12 he sang in the choir of St Paul's Cathedral. He studied for a Bachelor of Music degree at Oxford. He returned to London and St Paul's as Vicar-Choral. He was also a music critic on the Morning Post and edited other publications. In later life he collected English folk music.
