August Buchner

August Buchner was born in Dresden, 2 November 1591. He studied at the Pforta school and at Wittenberg, where in 1610 he became Professor of Poetry and in 1613 Professor of Eloquence. He died 12 February 1661. From him comes the morning hymn "Der Schöne Tag bricht an" in the Meinungisch Gesangbuch.
