Burke, Christian, was born in London Sept. 18, 1859, and now (1906) resides in Highgate, London. Her earlier verse, contributed to various periodicals, was collected as The Flowering of the Almond-Tree and other Poems, 1896, revised edition 1901. Her hymn “Lord of Life and King of Glory” [Mothers' Societies] was written in Dec. 1903, and first printed in the Treasury, Feb. 1901, p. 453, headed "Prize Hymn for a Mothers’ Union Service." It is in The English Hymnal, 1906, No. 530. [Rev. James Mearns. M.A.]
