Georg Konrad Büttner was a hymnist and civil servant born 2 November, 1648, in Dresden. Where he received his education is unknown. He served as consistorial councilor in Zeitz, Jena, and Arnstadt. He died 20 April, 1693 in Teplitz. His hymns circulated anonymously during his lifetime, but were later attributed to him by his son, Christian Ludwig Büttner.
