Reformed Church in the United States

Short Name: Reformed Church in the United States
Full Name: Reformed Church in the United States

The German Reformed Church (org. 1725) became known as the Reformed Church in the United States in 1869. In 1934 it merged with the Evangelical Synod of North America (formed in 1877 by the merger of the Evangelical Synod of the Northwest, the German Evangelical Society of Ohio, the United Evangelical Society of the East, and other similar organizations) to form the Evangelical and Reformed Church. In 1957 the latter merged with the General Council of the Congregational and Christian Churches of the United States to form the United Church of Christ.
