1 Lord, to sing Thy praises
Is the angels' joy.
We betimes will also
All our songs employ.
No less, little children
Praises e'er will sing,
Sing with adoration
To the Lord, their King.
2 Let our hearts be like a
Book of hymns of praise;
Let us strive to honor
Thee, Lord, in all ways.
We exalt Thee gladly.
Yea, our soul shall be
Always raised in praises
Like a harp to Thee.
3 Then shall we be singing
Not with lips alone;
From the heart's depth also
We will songs intone.
From the soul with weeping
Shall our songs uprise,
As it longs to see Thee
With awed, inward eyes.
4 We extol Thee only,
Glorifying Thee
And Thy wondrous deeds, Lord.
May we worthy be.
Let our songs melodious
Rise to Thee in praise
Till we dwell in heaven
With Thee all our days.
5 Now, beloved children,
To the Lord God sing.
Praise Him now and always,
Let all voices ring.
Heav'nward raise, exultant,
Psalms of joy so fair!
Sing with jubilation,
Let psalms fill the air!
6 Humbly be committed
To sing reverently.
Sing with joyous fervor
Of God's majesty.
Childlike learn to praise Him,
Heart and mind and soul.
Thanks and honor offer
God the Lord extol.
