Ouf Flag Has the Blue of the Heavens

Representative Text

1 Our Flag has the Blue of the Heavens,
The White of the stars shining bright;
The Red of the blood of the Saviour,
The Cross as the source of our might.
“By this sign,” is its call, “ye shall conquer,”
By this sign shall the world seem as dross;
See our emblem of faithful devotion:
Our Flag with the sign of the cross.

Refrain:
All hail to the Flag of the Cross!
All hail to the Flag of the Cross!
See our emblem of faithful devotion:
Our Flag with the sign of the cross.

2 May the Flag lead us onward and upward,
Its Blue helping us to be true;
Its White symbol of our soul’s brightness,
Its Red of His love held in view.
It’s an emblem whose folds reflect heaven,
And speak of the bliss without loss;
A banner of peace and of conquest:
Our Flag with the sign of the cross. [Refrain]

3 Long may that dear Flag be victorious,
Long may it inspire us to save
The victims still bound with sin’s fetters,
Who stand in the gloom of the grave.
Our Flag speaks of life everlasting,
When its folds in the breeze bravely toss;
How it cheers the despondent and grieving:
Our Flag with the sign of the cross. [Refrain]
