Brooke Gabrielle Fraser Ligertwood (b. 1983) was born in Wellington, New Zealand. She studied piano for many years and taught herself to play guitar, and she sings and writes her own music. As Brooke Fraser, she released four mainstream albums through Sony Music, Columbia Records and Vagrant Records, including Albertine, Flags and Brutal Romantic, in styles ranging from folk-pop to electronic-influenced pop. She was also a longtime member of Hillsong Church and sang with Hillsong Worship in Australia and later in Los Angeles, where she wrote and led the Grammy-winning song What a Beautiful Name.
