Prepare us Lord to view Thy cross

Prepare us Lord to view Thy cross

Author: Thomas Cotterill

Representative Text

1 Prepare us, Lord, to view thy cross,
Who all our griefs hast borne;
To look on thee, whom we have pierced

2 While thus we mourn, we would rejoice,
And as thy cross we see,
Let each exclaim, in faith and hope,
"The Saviour died for me!"

In a church court the Archbishop of York and Cotterill reached a compromise: the later edition of Selection was withdrawn… Go to person page >
