Bobby was the son of Ruben Jackson Burnett & Mollie Newman Burnett. and husband of Nobie Ruth O’Neal Burnett. He served as pastor of the Temple Baptist Church, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, for 45 years. In 1957, the same year he established the church, he and Videt Polk founded the Gospel Singers of America. He is remembered as an accomplished pianist and song writer.
