My Grace Is Sufficient for Thee

Representative Text

1 When Paul, in contrition,
Made thrice his petition,
And prayed from the thorn to be free,
The answer came to him,
With strength to imbue him:
“My grace is sufficient for thee.”

Chorus:
“My grace is sufficient for thee,”
Whatever the trial may be;
The Father in heaven, His promise hath given:
“My grace is sufficient for thee.”

2 When tempted and failing,
With Satan assailing,
This promise comes ever to me,
It cheer my weak spirit,
Gives strength as I hear it:
“My grace is sufficient for thee.” [Chorus]

3 Oh! blessed assurance!
Through patient endurance
We’ll conquer, and Satan will flee;
For thus He hath spoken,
Whose word is ne’er broken:
“My grace is sufficient for thee.” [Chorus]
