Born: September 22, 1827. Died: September 14, 1899. Lissant was a chorister at the coronation of Britain’s Queen Victoria. In 1849, he became the first organist at St. Paul’s Cathedral in Calcutta, India. From about 1872 to 1899, he played the organ at St. Augustine’s Church, Queen’s Gate, London.
